Survive, Today! - HAVE YOU SURVIVED TODAY?

So this was originally a blog about surviving weird situations. Then it became a blog about puppy mills or something... I don't know I wasn't in charge at that time. Then it was a conspiracy blog. Now it's a blog about travel, health, and technology. Deal with it.

Repairing A Damaged United States Passport

If you go into a store with a ripped twenty dollar bill what happens? Obviously, the store owner will not accept it. It is the exact same thing with passports. Everyone traveling outside our country must have a valid United States passport in their possession. However, like money, it must be in good and legible condition. If you have a damaged passport you will need to find an agency where you can get a replacement.

Alerting Authorities

If you suspect your passport has enough damage on it to be considered invalid, you can take it to a passport agency and see what they say. If they tell you that you are going to have to get a replacement passport you should begin the process immediately. Even if you think the minor damage on your current passport is not that serious you should not risk getting it rejected at customs. They can classify any kind of damage they see on a passport to make it invalid. This is why it is so important that if you have damaged United States passport to quickly begin the process of renewal.

Normal Wear

Your pasport will obviously look older over time. It will have wear and tear on it if you use it for many years. Some of the pages might start to fan or bend. They are not concerned with this type of damage as it is unavoidable. What the government is concerned with is any sort of damage that makes it impossible to read the information within the passport. If you think you might have any of this type of damage you should not wait to find out if it will be rejected when you are at customs. Go ahead and get the application for a passport renewal online so you will be prepared in the case that you have to get a new one to replace you old, damaged passport.

Getting A Replacement

Once you have reported that you have a damaged passport to the proper authorities you will be able to begin the process of getting a replacement. The process is actually very similar to that of getting your original passport. You will have to turn in your damaged passport before you will be allowed to collect your replacement. This is in order to prevent passport fraud.

Expedition

In some cases a person may need to leave the country very quickly. However, if they discover that their passport is damaged to the point of needing a new one, they may be in trouble. Fortunately, there are passport services available to these people so that they can get their renewed passports expedited. They will have to pay additional fees, of course, but they will get their passport in time for their trip. Before this happens the person will have to show evidence of their travel plans, though.

Expediting Services

One of the best ways to obtain these passport services is to go online. There, you will be able to choose from a multitude of companies that offer a wide variety of passport services. You can get a replacement passport much more quickly this way. Though, it should be noted this route is the most expensive option.
